Year 10 English

This course will involve the study of texts such as novels, plays, films, non-fiction, poems, and short stories. It will also assist students in producing their own stories, essays, poems, speeches and static images. There will also be a focus on learning writings mechanics and grammar skills. Students will use a writing journal to keep a record of their writing. This journal will be a site for dialogue between the student and their teacher, and an ongoing record of the student’s progress.

Students will be offered the opportunity to enter NCEA Level 1 Achievement Standard 90857 ‘Construct and deliver an oral text’. This standard is worth three Level 1 credits.
