Course Description

Geography guides students towards a critical appreciation of the interaction between people and the environment. Studying Geography provides a window into the complex mosaic of places that make up our world.

At Level 1 you will study extreme natural events in New Zealand, global patterns of terrorism, sustainable use of the Ganges and the changing land use in Martinborough. 

There is a one day compulsory field trip to gather research an internal assessment. 

Level 1 Geography is an endorsed course offering 18 credits, 8 externally and 10 internally assessed. You can gain 8 Numeracy credits and 14 Literacy credits from this subject.

There is a $20.00 donation to attend the Field Trip to Martinborough to gather data for the research standard.

Recommended Prior Learning

Geography is an open entry course. However, it has a heavy reading and writing component. Ideally students would have displayed strong critical and analytical skills in the junior school which are essential in this subject.
