Level 2 Product Design Technology

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Norris

For the first project the students construct an outcome based on a set of design parameters and a construction drawing. However they are encouraged to develop a design to suit their own requirements but must also closely follow the original parameters. As they progress through the construction they will produce a construction log identifying the quality control procedures that they have implemented to ensure that the components fit together as intended.
The following project enables the students to identify, develop and construct an outcome that is developed from the provided context. They will research and identify a need within this context and then develop the design by producing design ideas, gaining feedback from key stakeholders, trialling materials and processes and finally constructing and evaluating its fitness for purpose.

The External Report completes this project and focuses on the reasoning behind the testing processes that they have undertaken and how the information that they gained guided their development process.

Note: This course leads to university entrance approved subjects.
