Course Description

This course will only run if there is enough interest.  Please ensure that you have prioritised your choices and completed a back up option.

Māori Performing Arts explores the art of Kapa Haka and gives insight into Māori culture and traditions.

Students will learn about:

  • performance skills
  • performance production
  • other toi practitioners
  • rangahau (research)
  • history, tikanga and cultural practices relating to toi.

The course offers a range of credits at NCEA levels 3.  The standards the students sit within the year will be agreed between the kaihaka and the kaiako at the beginning of the course.

Students are expected to participate in the school Kapa Haka to support the learning happening in class.
