Year 10 Science

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr S. Harrison.

All Year 10 students work in specialised science laboratories with topics grouped into units. The units put new science concepts into contexts familiar to most students.

Te Taiao (The natural world) will cover te ngahere (the forest), plant reproduction and uses, and mātai aronuku (geology and landforms) in NZ and around the Hutt Valley and Wellington.

Energy and Renewables will cover electricity and magnetism, acids, bases and metal chemistry, and energy.

Te Tinana (The body) will cover food chemistry and healthy eating, the digestive system and circulatory system, and genetics.

Students will learn about the local environment,  chemistry and physics and how their bodies work. Students are encouraged to bring laptops or tablets to class in order to access web based information and activities.
