Year 11 Māori Performing Arts

Course Description

This course will only run if there is enough interest.  Please ensure that you have prioritised your choices and completed a back up option.

Māori Performing Arts explores the art of Kapa Haka and gives insight into Māori culture and traditions.

Students will learn about:

  • performance skills
  • performance production
  • other toi practitioners
  • rangahau (research)
  • history, tikanga and cultural practices relating to toi.

The course will offer one NCEA Level 1 standard, and the rest of the work will be flexible in order to build the performance skill of the ākonga.

Students are expected to participate in the school Kapa Haka to support the learning happening in class.
