Students will explore a variety of dance disciplines such as:
• Modern and stylised jazz
• Urban and street dance
• Musical theatre and commercial dance
• Contemporary dance
• Production technologies
• Devising techniques
This course focuses on performance and artistic expression. it is an extension of the Level 1 Dance course. By exploring these contrasting dance forms students will develop new technical dance skills, strength, extension, flexibility and body awareness. In addition to this, students will refine their performance technique and expand on their creative ideas and expression.
This course is divided into three components:
• Dance performance - learning an array of rhythmical patterns and movement combinations
• Dance technique - mastery of the physical technical elements
• Dance choreography - devising in order to communicate an intention
Students must wear a complete change of active wear for practical sessions.
Interest in the performing arts and dance. Approval at the discretion of the HOD.
