Year 10 Product Design Technology - Hard Materials
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Norris.
Year 10 Hard Materials Product Design in the Workshop -
This course will be taught in a traditional hard materials workshop.
The year long course has been designed to give students an experience in a range of hard materials to produce a range of product design projects including including producing:
Skills based speaker project with a focus on different techniques for joining hard materials
Sustainable Toy Manufacture
LED Light production
Students will have the opportunity to learn design software like Adobe Illustrator and techsoft to enhance their product outcomes with the use of a laser cut, 3D printed or dye sublimation printed component.
Students will understand how electronics can be incorporated into product design and experience how to solder and join a simple circuit together to produce sound/light.
Within all three outcomes produced students will use the design process to understand how to meet stakeholder needs, produce creative/innovative ideas, incorporate computer design softwares and understand how to evaluate and refine work.
