Level 3 French
Teacher in Charge: Ms M. Dean
Skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking are further developed through a variety of activities including whole class, group work, peer to peer review and one-on-one with the teacher. There may also be opportunities to exchange opinions with speakers of French in other schools. A French assistant is available to work with all classes.
A variety of topical themes are covered and these are decided in negotiation with students. We may look at issues such as environment, immigration, French culture and traditions, equality, new technology but these will be decided according to student interests. Communicative competency is the key aim of this course. Aspects of French Cinema will also be studied.
In terms of assessments, the students will be required to do two internal and two external assessments. There is a third internal available for those students who would like to gain more credits (3.3 interaction).
HVHS offers a 2 week-trip to France for senior students every 2 years. We plan to restart this once international travel becomes more settled.
