Level 3 Te Awakairangi
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr. D. Wood, Ms E. Gardenier, Ms E. Cardwell.
In today's world, ‘place’ and where we come from is becoming increasingly more relevant. Basing ourselves within the Hutt Valley and Greater Wellington Region, Te Awakairangi is a course designed to make global issues local. Contextualising the curriculum in our local ‘place’, students will use and interact with the community to craft and create their own learning experience.
Te Awakairangi at level three is intended to offer students an experience where they can shape and enjoy their own learning while working to complete NCEA level three. Arrangements can be made if students need it to be University Entrance approved.
Te Awakairangi is designed to appeal to socially conscious students. The range of assessment offered will develop a student’s sense of social responsibility, allow them to grasp differing perspectives on local and global issues, and encourage them to understand their own power to create positive and lasting change in the communities around them.
