Level 2 Spanish
Course Description
Teacher in Charge:
Hutt Valley High School Spanish Students in Spain.
Skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking are encouraged and developed through a variety of activities including group work, peer to peer review, one-on-one time with the teacher and whole class teaching. There will be opportunities to exchange ideas and opinions with Spanish speakers in other schools.
In negotiation with the students a variety of themes and topics will be decided. The topics could be human rights, environment, terrorism, traditions and Spanish culture, Spanish music, Spanish and Latin American cinema, technology, immigration and emigration. These will be guided by the student's interests.
Students are required to do 2 internals and 2 externals in this course. However, there is a 3rd internal available to those students who would like to gain more credits (Interactions).
HVHS offers a trip to Spain available to senior students every 2 years. However, if the trip receives more applicants than available spots, priority will be given to students in Year 12 and Year 13.
This course runs for 4 hours per week for the whole year.
Recommended Prior Learning
Reasonable success in Level 1 Spanish or at the discretion of the HOD.
