Year 10 Product Design Technology - Mixed Materials

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Norris.

This full-year course uses a range of different materials and processes to design, develop and produce your final product. Employing both traditional and modern techniques such as:-

  • carving,
  • laser cutting,
  • weaving,
  • CNC,
  • embroidery,
  • sewing,
  • dye sublimation techniques,
  • jewellery making
  • electronics. 

You will create high-quality outcomes in a dedicated classroom developed to support this style of project.


An outline of projects that could be covered are:


Jewellery making – Pewter casting and rings
Soft materials - Dye sublimation printing, sewing and CNC embroidery
Light Project – Electronics and laser cutting/3D printing
Toi Māori and skills-based project


This course will be based in B1.
