Course Description

The Year 9 Mathematics programme covers all aspects of the New Zealand Curriculum from levels 3 to 5.
The year is broken into 8 sections, 2 per term.
Term 1 - Topic 1 - Number: Number properties, Order of Operations, Negative Numbers, Factors, Multiples, Rounding & Indices
Term 1 - Topic 2 - Measurement: Units, Length, Area, Volume & Surface Area
Term 2 - Topic 1 - Statistics: Data Types, Surveys & Questionnaires, Averages & Spread & Charts
Term 2 - Topic 2 - Number: Fractions, Decimals, Percentages, Ratio & Proportion
Term 3 - Topic 1 - Geometry: Angles, Polygons, Symmetry & Transformations
Term 3 - Topic 1 - Algebra: Expressions, Expanding, Factorising, Equations & Functions
Term 4 - Topic 1 - Patterns & Graphs: Coordinates, Linear Patterns & Linear Graphs
Term 4 - Topic 2 - Probability: Probability, Sample Space, 2-Way Tables & Venn Diagrams
After each unit there is an informal end of topic test that covers what has been taught so understanding and overall progress can be established.

Either 1J5 or 1E5 exercise book
Either Casio fx-9750GII Graphics Calculator (Required for Year 11 Maths and higher levels, so worth considering buying now),
Or Casio fx-82 Scientific Calculator (minimum requirement).
