Year 9 Product Design Technology - Full Course (Four Hours per week for Two Terms)
Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Norris
This is a half year course in which students design and develop an outcome using mixed materials. Covering areas such as:
- Research and design
- Materials technology
- Safe practical workshop skills
- Computer Aided Design
- This course will run for half the year and will enable the students to design and develop two innovative projects.
- The stool project is one where students are pushed to think creatively and express themselves through a design. Students will research into artists / designers they are inspired by and use this inspiration to create an expressive stool to fit into a gallery. This project focuses on the development of skills and students are free to be as creative as possible.
- This second project will focus on students learning how to creatively solve a storage problem that they have identified. They will have the opportunity to develop their innovative products and show off their individuality. The product has to be made from both textiles and resistant materials, the balance of which is down to the designer to select.
